Frontman Sloan Struble brought the vibrant energy of “Dayglow: The Tour” to New York City this past weekend, with the dynamic southern California surf band Sun Room igniting the stage as their opening act.
Sun Room
Sun Room kicked off the night with a bang, electrifying the crowd with infectious guitar riffs and smooth, captivating vocals. By the end of their set, they ensured that everyone would remember their name.
Their lineup was a fun blend of crowd favorites like “Clementine” and “Crashed My Bike,” along with new hits from their latest EP, “Can’t Explain.” The dreamy, bold atmosphere they created perfectly captured the essence of their southern California roots. At one moment, the audience joyfully broke into a rendition of “Happy Birthday” for frontman Luke Asigan, who took a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude for the support he’s received on this tour.
Dayglow
As soon as Sun Room wrapped up, the crew quickly transformed the stage for Dayglow. The lights dimmed to a mesmerizing blue haze, and the letters spelling “DAYGLOW” lit up in vibrant excitement. The crowd buzzed with anticipation, sharing their favorite songs and eagerly guessing which witty, city-themed shirt Sloan would wear.
At around 9 PM, Dayglow burst onto the stage, immediately commanding attention with a lively mashup of “Junior Varsity / Broken Bone.” The crowd sang along at the top of their lungs, reveling in the moment. Sloan donned a clever “New York, Old Friends” t-shirt, a playful nod to the city and the fans who came out to support them.
The band recently released their self-titled album, “Dayglow,” filled with upbeat and introspective tracks that showcase their growth since their debut album, “Fuzzybrain,” which launched them into the spotlight in 2019. Throughout the night, they performed some of their biggest hits like “Hot Rod” and “Can I Call You Tonight?” along with a wide selection of songs from their new album. The crowd danced and sang along to each one, as if every song was their favorite.
It’s clear that Dayglow is on an exciting journey, and their loyal fans are eager to join them for the ride.
