The Band Camino’s ‘Taking Shape Tour’ took shape in Phoenix, AZ at the Van Buren to a sold out crowd full of screaming, adoring fans. From the moment Knox took the stage to the second The Band Camino left, the sound coming from Van Buren was heard from blocks away.

Knox

Nope, not the 1975. Pop vocalist Knox opened the show at The Van Buren in Phoenix. He opened the show with the haunting and cathartic pop-rock song “Love Letters”. From the first note it was obvious it was going to be a set full of energy. Knox has such an animated stage presence, drawing the audience into the fun he’s having. All of his songs create a space for him to release that energy, even when the lyrics are actually kind of sad. Which makes the show that much more energetic, as if he’s releasing emotions in anyway he can.

If you didn’t know the songs in the beginning of the set, Knox saved the popular for last. “Sneakers” and “Not the 1975” gained massive popularity across Tiktok and Instagram back in 2023 and it’s obvious that popularity didn’t dim. The walls of the Van Buren shook from the dancing and singing from the crowd. Knox played into it incredibly, jumping and running around the stage, encouraging the crowd to sing along. He puts on an amazing show, obviously enjoying performing and making sure fans who didn’t know him when they walked in will remember him when they leave.

The Band Camino

The anticipation in the venue was palpable as the sardine-packed crowd waited for The Band Camino to walk on. And when they did? Pandemonium!

Kidding! Kind of. The fan base these boys have curated is full of so much love for them and for their music. Though some were louder than others, every song rang through the entire venue and into the surrounding streets. Watching the crowd jump along, some choosing to simply bob their heads while others full on hopped in the air, was beautiful. And it’s easy to see why fans love them so much.

Every stop on this tour is made special for fans. In the middle of the show, after “Bruises”, the stage cleared, leaving Jeffery Jordan and Spencer Stewart alone to do an acoustic set. However, each show gets a different set of songs for this portion of the show. Phoenix got “Song About You”, “Berenstein”, “Know Me”, “Fool of Myself”, and “The Black and White”.

“Me and Spencer started this band in Memphis in college,” Jordan began as he addressed the crowd before the acoustic set. “It just started off like this, with an acoustic [guitar], and a piano, and writing songs in our bedrooms in college. So it’s cool to get back to doing it like this in front of 2,000 people.”

When the rest of the band joined them back on stage and the first few piano notes of “2/14” filled the venue, it was overtaken by the screams of the crowd.

The entire band creates such an atmosphere of upbeat energy and excitement, that doesn’t ever diminish even for a moment. They perform with a deep passion, one that carries into the music – one that you can feel just from standing in the venue. And their fans adore them, creating a beautiful concert. While The Van Buren does hold 1,800 people, they somehow made it feel so intimate and small in an incredible way.
